Tour Highlights | Jomon Cedar is said to be 7,200 years old and is the thickest cedar tree in Japan. In addition to the theory that it is 7,200 years old, the center is hollow, and scientific measurements of materials collected from the inside have suggested that it is 2,170 years old, so the tree's exact age cannot yet be determined, and it remains a mystery. Its imposing presence and the sense of weight that comes from having lived for so many years make it worth the effort to go and see it. |
